Tailored Brands named John Tighe to be its next chief executive officer, effective Aug. 5, elevating the retailer's president at a time the company said it is poised for growth.

The parent company of apparel retailers Men's Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank, said Wednesday that Tighe will succeed CEO Peter Sachse, who will become executive chairman of the board.

Tighe joined Tailored Brands in May 2021 as executive vice president and chief customer officer. He became president in March 2022.

Tailored Brands filed for bankruptcy reorganization in August 2020. It was one of several large retailers tipped into insolvency by the coronavirus pandemic.
