智通财经APP获悉，比尔·盖茨创立的核能初创公司TerraPower周三宣布，公司已完成一轮6.5亿美元的融资，英伟达(NVDA.US)的风险投资部门NVentures作为新投资者参与其中。其他投资者还包括比尔·盖茨和韩国造船巨头HD Hyundai。
目前，TerraPower正在为明年其首座商业核反应堆的监管审批做准备。TerraPower的首座Natrium反应堆将成为美国首座商业化的先进核电厂，采用简化的建设流程。该公司去年已在首座核电厂选址启动非核建设活动。
最新一轮融资标志着人工智能与先进核能之间的联系日益加深，科技公司正在加速锁定可靠、清洁的能源来源。英伟达公司副总裁兼NVentures负责人Mohamed Siddeek表示：“随着人工智能持续改变各行各业，核能将成为支持这些能力的更关键能源来源之一。”
