1320 ET - Shake Shack is developing technology that connects its self-checkout kiosks with online and app ordering so it can recognize customers in any channel they order with, CEO Rob Lynch says at the WSJ Global Food Forum. The burger chain is looking to capitalize on kiosks because they are Shake Shack's highest-volume order channel, Lynch says. Shake Shack hasn't cut its labor force significantly since adding kiosks, but they have helped speed up the ordering process and increase order volume. Customers tend to make bigger orders when they use kiosks rather than ordering with a cashier, he says. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
