6月19日，微博发布公告称，站方发现，有部分用户在参与争议讨论时，因公开声称被网暴而导致更多网友相互攻击、增加网络暴力风险。为此站方将对现有防网暴机制进行进一步升级，以此加强对用户的保护，具体如下：当用户受到言语攻击风险时，平台会自动提醒用户开启“一键防护”等相关机制，并已取得显著的防范效果。在此基础上，对于用户公开声称自己被网暴或晒出被言论攻击截图的，平台在核实后将主动为其开启为期7天的“一键防护”模式进行保护，功能开启期间将不会接收未关注人的私信/评论/转发/@ 消息，不会被关注/搜索到，以此降低用户遭受言论攻击的风险。
