据《南华早报》6月19日报道，受美国总统特朗普对华发动关税贸易战影响，市场对美国国债担忧加剧，中国4月份继续减持美债，持有美债规模连续第二个月下降，削减至16年来的最低水平。
根据美国财政部发布的最新数据，中国4月持有的美国国债降至7570亿美元，较3月减少82亿美元。据Wind资讯统计，这一数据标志这中国连续两个月减持美债，持有美债规模达到自2009年3月以来的最低水平。

3月，中国在美国国债外国持有者中的排名已下滑至第三位，次于日本和英国。自特朗普首个总统任期以来，中国开始稳步减持美国国债。
4月2日，特朗普宣布在全球范围征收所谓“对等关税”，此举引发全球市场动荡，导致美国股市暴跌，同时引发了美国国债和美元的大幅抛售。
6月18日，中国人民银行研究局（参事室）局长（主任）王信在2025陆家嘴论坛上表示，未来美元的地位，一方面取决于美国经济、美国政策，另一方面也取决于其他的主要货币和其他主要货币发行国的各方面发展，“我们已经看到发生了很大的变化，已经看到市场上对美元的信心有所下降”。
