Stifel Financial recruited an advisor team that oversaw $2.1 billion in client assets at Oppenheimer & Co., making another big hire for Stifel this year. The team, called the Summa Group, joined Stifel in Sherman Oaks, Calif., part of the greater Los Angeles area. The Summa Group is led by four industry veterans: brothers Brian and Jeff Werdesheim, Robert Dalie, and Gary Chiate.
Brian and Jeffrey Werdesheim have 31 and 36 years of industry experience, according to BrokerCheck, a public database maintained by industry self-regulatory organization Finra. Dalie has 24 years of experience while Chiate has 57 years.
The advisors said they joined Stifel because of its resources, technology, and lending and investment banking capabilities.
Moving with them are Stan Yang, portfolio analytics director; Savannah Pincus, financial advisor associate; Qiuxue Yang, financial advisor associate; David Allen, financial advisor associate; Daniela Greene, senior client service associate; Engrid Mirzaie, senior client service associate; and Lidiane Santos, senior client service associate.
A representative of Oppenheimer was unavailable for immediate comment. Oppenheimer operates an investment bank as well as a wealth management unit that had 933 financial advisors as of the first quarter.
St. Louis-based Stifel, which has 2,340 financial advisors, has been striving to recruit large advisor teams. In April, it picked up three financial advisors from Merrill Lynch, where they managed nearly $3 billion in client. And in March Stifel hired a former Raymond James Financial team that oversaw $1.35 billion in client assets.
