BOE Likely to Cut Rates If Firms' Pricing Power Weakens -- Market Talk

1333 GMT - The Bank of England is likely to cut interest rates in August if data shows weakness in firms' pricing power and declining consumer demand, Berenberg's Andrew Wishart says in a note. Increased labor costs are, nonetheless, likely to keep U.K. inflation up, limiting BOE interest rate cuts in 2025, Wishart says. "We stick with our forecast that the BOE will hold bank rate at 4.25% until end-2025 before reducing it by 50 basis points in 2026," he says. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
