周二，特朗普在其社交平台Truth Social上发帖呼吁伊朗投降，警告伊朗最高领袖哈梅内伊（Ayatollah Ali Khamenei）知道其藏身之处，称美国的耐心正逐渐耗尽。随后哈梅内伊在社交平台X上回应“战斗开始”。
伊朗首都德黑兰当地时间上周五（13日）凌晨，以色列袭击伊朗，随后伊朗报复，战斗开始。在开战近一周后，以色列的通讯、能源和国防基础设施都遭到攻击。
这对美国国防股造成持续影响。上周五，在最初的袭击发生后，国防承包商和武器制造商的股价上涨，周一因谈判有望而有所下跌。周二，因中东局势再度紧张，股价上涨。
周二，以制造军用飞机闻名的洛克希德马丁公司（LMT）收涨2.63%，世界第四大军工生产厂商诺斯罗普·格鲁曼公司（NOC）收涨1.30%，L3哈里斯科技公司（LHX）收涨1.25%，国防工业承包商通用动力公司（GD）收涨0.72%，雷神科技RTX（RTX）上涨约1.5%，该股在过去一周上涨了约3%。
分析称，国防股走势反映了市场对以伊战争情绪的变化，而非基于投资者对相关公司前景判断的改变。
另外，有数据称，在美国国防主承包商的销售额中，对中东的直接销售占比通常不到5%。
