Spotify Technology (SPOT) faces a call from two US senators for a regulatory probe for allegedly converting premium subscriptions into higher-priced bundled offerings without customers' knowledge or consent.
The company allegedly combined its music streaming and audiobook services into a more costly subscription without getting consent from consumers, Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, and Ben Ray Lujan, a New Mexico Democrat, said in a Friday letter to the Federal Trade Commission.
"These actions harm consumers and could deeply damage the marketplace and the music royalty system," the letter said.
Spotify and the FTC didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
