Cathay Pacific's Passenger Count Rises 36% in May

Cathay Pacific (HKG:0293) carried about 2.3 million passengers in May, up 36% year over year.

Shares in the airline jumped 1% during the close of trading on Monday.

Passenger capacity rose 31% year over year to about 11.5 billion available seat kilometers, according to a Friday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

Cargo carried increased 12% to 135,807 tonnes, while cargo capacity grew 8% to 1.24 billion available freight-tonne kilometers.

Subsidiary HK Express carried 643,322 passengers, increasing 36% from the year-ago period.
