【环球网报道】据法新社、英国《卫报》报道，在北约峰会即将宣布各成员国防务支出承诺之际，英国首相斯塔默当地时间23日宣布，英国承诺将其防务支出提升至国内生产总值（GDP）的5%。

斯塔默表示，这一增幅是“深化我们对北约承诺的一个机会”，并将目标年份定在2035年，与北约即将在荷兰海牙举行的北约峰会上宣布的协议保持一致。

这一决定是斯塔默准备出席北约峰会之际作出的。24日至25日，北约峰会在荷兰海牙举行，预计各成员国将正式就“在未来十年内把国防开支提升至国内生产总值5%”的目标达成一致。自特朗普去年11月在美国大选中获胜以来，他就一再要求其他北约成员国将军费开支占GDP的比重从2%提高至5%。

一名北约官员对“政治新闻网”称，北约最终要求成员国在2035年前实现军费开支达到GDP 5%的目标，确定这一时间表是意大利、英国等国的胜利。一些北约成员国曾呼吁将实现目标的期限设定为2030年，而北约秘书长吕特提出过2032年。
