IT之家 6 月 24 日消息，据外媒《POLITICO》报道，负责监管 Meta 在欧盟范围内对 GDPR（IT之家注：通用数据保护条例）落实情况的爱尔兰数据保护委员会表示，WhatsApp 在一份声明中称其广告内容要到 2026 年才会登陆欧盟。
爱尔兰数据保护委员会专员 Des Hogan 称，该机构将同欧盟其它数据保护机构就 WhatsApp 的广告模式展开讨论，以在同 Meta 的未来交涉中反映其作为欧洲监管机构的任何担忧。
另一位专员 Dale Sunderland 则提到，爱尔兰数据保护委员会尚未与 Meta 就 WhatsApp 的广告模式进行对话，目前谈论可能的“红线问题”为时尚早。
Meta 在公告中表示，WhatsApp 的广告功能是“以最注重隐私的方式”构建的；同时只有在用户选择关联账户时，Meta 旗下的三大社媒平台才会共享数据。
