Carnegie Clean Energy (ASX:CCE) said the Blue Economy Cooperative Research Center awarded the firm AU$335,020 to deliver a preliminary design for a commercial MoorPower System, as it seeks to refine the MoorPower design for commercial-scale aquaculture applications, according to a Thursday ASX filing.
The firm will work alongside partners Huon Aquaculture, Advanced Composite Structures Australia, and the University of Tasmania, as well as with support from specialist subcontractors.
Moorpower is based on the firm's CETO wave energy converter, designed to address offshore energy demands.
It plans to scale and optimize the MoorPower system design for operating feeding barges using information from the firm's MoorPower scaled demonstrator project. It will also undertake an in-depth assessment of aquaculture's operational parameters and requirements, including existing mooring system configurations, barge movements, and survey compliance requirements.
