波士顿联邦储备银行行长Susan M． Collins周二在一份重要的住房报告的发布会上发表讲话时说，当前适度限制性的货币政策立场是必要的，即使它导致新的住宅房地产投资放缓。

　　Collins承认住房市场对利率变化“非常敏感”。

　　她表示：“当美联储调整利率时，住房市场通常会首先做出反应，并且往往会将货币政策的影响扩散到整个经济领域。”

　　她承认“适度限制性的货币政策立场”在短期内限制了住房的可获得性，但她认为，恢复价格稳定最终将有利于中长期住房市场。

　　她表示：“在住房市场，利率上升减缓了新的住宅投资。房地产活动的减少反过来又导致了我们目前正在经历的总体需求的放缓。”
