Entergy Texas has announced plans for significant transmission investments to support the rapid growth in Southeast Texas. The company has proposed two major projects, the Southeast Texas Area Reliability Project (SETEX) and the Cypress to Legend 500-kilovolt Transmission Line Project, aimed at enhancing the region's electricity infrastructure. These projects, identified as crucial by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, are part of Entergy Texas' Southeast Texas Energy Plan (STEP Ahead), a comprehensive strategy to bolster economic growth, reliability, and community vibrancy. Once approved, the Cypress to Legend project is anticipated to be operational by 2028, with SETEX following in 2029. These developments will increase capacity, reduce outage risks, and boost grid resiliency against extreme weather, all while maintaining affordable electricity rates for customers.
