Thai Beverage Likely in Higher Spirits Come 4Q -- Market Talk

0209 GMT - Drink manufacturer Thai Beverage's spirits sales should improve in 4Q, say UOB Kay Hian analysts in a note. The Singapore-listed group will benefit from cheaper molasses--an spirits ingredient--from that quarter, which should boost margins. Overall 2H spirits sales should trend better but any improvement is likely to be low, given the weakening domestic economy. The analysts are more pessimistic on Thai Bev's beer outlook given recent lackluster sales, though they expect improved tourism and the Songkran festival to support. The brokerage keeps its hold call with a S$0.46 target. Shares are 1.1% higher at S$0.465. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
