IT之家 7 月 1 日消息，OpenAI 发言人当地时间 6 月 30 日针对此前有关该企业租用谷歌 TPU 的报道澄清称，公司正对谷歌 TPU 进行早期测试，暂无大规模部署计划。

OpenAI 目前高度依赖英伟达的 AI GPU，而在 AMD 的 Advanced AI 2025 活动上萨姆・奥尔特曼 (Sam Altman) 宣布将使用 AMD 的 MI 系列 GPU 加速器。如果谷歌的 TPU 也加入其算力硬件“弹药库”，有助于 OpenAI 降低运营开支。

不过，AI 硬件从实验室测试到大规模商用部署间仍有一段路要走，中间需要经历对软件堆栈的适配和对模型的调优，这将消耗不短的时间。

除购买和租用外 OpenAI 也在探索自研 AI 芯片。其首个芯片的设计预计将于今年完成，采用台积电 3nm 工艺，搭载 HBM 内存。
