US Cash Grains-Soybean bids steady, corn mixed as futures drop

CHICAGO, June 30 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans were mostly steady while corn basis bids were mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Monday as industry players eyed upcoming growing weather for the soy and corn crops in the U.S. Midwest and weighed ample global supplies of both crops.

  • The soy basis ticked lower at an Illinois river terminal and was steady elsewhere, spot checks showed.

  • The corn basis ticked lower at a processor, river terminal and ethanol plant and rose at an elevator and an ethanol plant.

  • More locations rolled their contract months.

  • Quarterly stocks data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture showed larger-than-expected supplies as of June 1.

  • Warm weather and rain showers are providing a greenhouse-like effect for the nascent corn and soy crops.

  • Chicago Board of Trade most-active corn futures fell 2-1/4 cents to $4.09-1/4 per bushel. CBOT most-active soy futures Sv1 rose 2-1/4 cents to $10.27 per bushel.
