BlockBeats News, July 2nd: The hybrid Layer2 project BOB (Build on Bitcoin) announced the official launch of native BTC on its BitVM testnet.
The official announcement stated that the successful activation of native BTC on the BitVM testnet has solidified BOB's position as a Bitcoin DeFi "home," as it introduces native BTC (rather than wrapped BTC) into its extensive Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem. This is fundamentally different from other wrapped BTC used in DeFi that relies on centralized custodians or multi-signature mechanisms.
It is reported that the testnet is supported by ten top industry and DeFi-leading institutions such as P2P.org, Lombard, Solv Protocol, Amber Group, Ankr, RockawayX, Fiamma, UTXO Management, Luganodes, and SatLayer. Following the testnet launch, the BitVM bridge and native BTC will be live on the BOB mainnet in Q4 2025.
