7月3日，数据分析公司Quantus Insights在社交平台公布的最新调查结果显示，40%的投票者“考虑支持”美国企业家马斯克成立“美国党”，38%的投票者表示“不太可能支持”，另有22%的受访者表示“不确定”。随后，马斯克转发了相关帖文，并表示“令人鼓舞”。

连日来，马斯克不断抨击美国总统特朗普力推的“大而美”法案，批评这项法案预计将使美国债务上限再提高5万亿美元，“极其疯狂且具有破坏性”，并称其为共和党的“政治自杀”。马斯克与特朗普的争执再度升级。马斯克还威胁，如果法案通过，他将立即组建新政党“美国党”。
