0748 GMT - Samsung Electronics could post a 2Q earnings miss largely due to likely weaker-than-expected semiconductor business, Hana Securities analysts Roko Kim and Y.G. Kim say in a note. They expect the South Korean tech giant's 2Q operating profit to come in at 5.8 trillion won, down 12% from their previous estimate of 6.6 trillion won, after revising down their profit forecast for the memory-chip segment. That would miss the latest FactSet-compiled consensus forecast of 6.5 trillion won. Softer-than-expected shipments of high-bandwidth-memory products likely weighed on the company's DRAM segment, while NAND chip prices may have fallen at a sharper-than-expected pace, they say.
