BP has put up Castrol for sale for about $8 billion, according to the report.
Clayton Dubilier & Rice employs BP chairman Helge Lund as an operating advisor, but he has no involvement in the private equity firm's potential offer for Castrol, people familiar with the matter told the news outlet.
