State Gas (ASX:GAS) completed the Rougemont-5 and Rougemont-6 vertical wells at its Rolleston West project in Queensland's Southern Bowen basin, according to a Wednesday ASX filing.

Both wells were completed with the installation of production tubing and downhole pumps, which will allow for the immediate start of dewatering and production testing.

The wells intersected around 8 meters of net coal within the Bandanna formation, between depths of 419 and 520 meters, which was consistent with geological predictions. Elevated gas shows were recorded during drilling. It will capture gas from production testing at the wells using its High-Density Natural Gas technology and virtual pipeline transport solution.

The drilling of the wells was fully funded under the AU$5.5 million Queensland Government Frontier Gas Exploration Program.

The firm is considering seeking third party accreditation of an initial reserves estimate for the project, its managing director Doug McAlpine said.
