Alpha Group said the deadline for takeover talks with Corpay to reach a formal deal has been extended.

The British financial services business said Monday that the takeover deadline has been extended to July 24 from July 7, at which point Corpay would need to announce a formal deal or withdraw its plan. The deadline can be extended by the board with the consent of the U.K. Takeover Panel.

On May 2, Dublin-based corporate payments company Corpay confirmed talks with Alpha Group regarding a possible cash offer. Four days later, Alpha Group turned it down.

Alpha Group said it believes it is in the best interests of shareholders to continue talks with Corpay.

No financial details have been disclosed.
