消息面上，美团与阿里的外卖大战近日升级。7月5日，美团透露实时零售日单量超1.2亿，其中餐饮超1亿，美团闪购超2000万。7月7日，野村中国互联网及媒体行业主管史家龙在传媒分享会上表示，在最新一轮的外卖价格战中，虽然付出高昂成本，美团作为行业先行者和领导者，终将成为外卖市场竞争最后的“赢家”，即占据最大的市场份额。
交银国际指出，第三季度初开启的补贴战或使日单按年增速达双位数。美团优选关闭减亏区域，预计释放约30至40亿元亏损，用于补充后续外卖补贴投入。即便补贴战持续到年底，美团仍有营运利润持平的可能。该行认为，商户、骑手端营运和调度仍是维持市占核心，美团外卖仍有领先优势，并有较大概率维持市占。
