BlockBeats 消息，7 月 8 日，据 Cointelegraph 报道，日本公司 Metaplanet 计划利用其不断增长的比特币储备来收购现金流丰沛的企业，其中包括考虑在日本国内收购一家数字银行。在最近接受采访时 Metaplanet 首席执行官 Simon Gerovich 表示，公司正在加速积累尽可能多的比特币，然后利用这些资产进行扩张，让其他竞争者难以追赶。Metaplanet 原本是一家酒店运营商，2024 年开始购入比特币作为对冲通货膨胀手段，目前持有 15,555 枚 BTC，并计划到 2027 年将持仓增至超 21 万枚，以占据比特币总量的 1%。
Metaplanet 比特币战略的第二阶段是将比特币作为抵押品获取融资，类似于证券或政府债券。Simon Gerovich 表示未来的收购目标将与公司战略保持一致，可能是收购日本的一家数字银行，并提供比现有零售银行更优质的数字银行服务。Simon Gerovich 排除了发行可转换债券的可能性，但对发行优先股以支持增长持开放态度。
