Toronto Stocks Inch Higher; ATS Shares Fall on CEO Departure

Toronto-listed stocks were mildly higher to start the week Monday at midday. Sector performance was mixed in Canada, with retail, tech and materials stocks somewhat offset by losses primarily in manufacturing, energy and health-services stocks.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index ticked up 0.04% to 27047.34 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose by 0.1% to 1609.58.

ATS shares fell by 6.6% to 41.15 Canadian dollars following Chief Executive Andrew Hider's plans to step down from his role to head up healthcare company Baxter International.

 

Other market movers:

Sandstorm Gold shares in Toronto were 6.2% higher at C$13.97 after the company agreed to sell itself to Royal Gold in a $3.5 billion all-stock deal.

Shares of Dye & Durham rose by 12% to C$11.13 after a large shareholder proposed a slate of new board members and called again for a sale of the company.
