Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt has lashed environmentalists for using a bid to secure World Heritage protection for ancient Indigenous rock art as a bargaining chip in their campaign to derail a major Woodside gas project.
Watt will travel to Paris this week in a last-ditch effort to convince representatives of the UN scientific and cultural organisation to recognise an area of Western Australia’s Burrup Peninsula for its precious rock art.
