0950 GMT - WPP's profit warning shows the risks of setting overly optimistic market expectations, AJ Bell analyst Dan Coatsworth writes in a note. While the U.K. advertising and marketing-services group faces its own operational hurdles and broader structural challenges, the downward revision to its guidance could trigger wider market unease, he says. WPP's traditional role as a bellwether for the global economy makes this especially significant, he adds. Current chair Philip Jansen now faces the most significant challenge of his career. He must identify the right successor for CEO Mark Read and help steer the company through what could be a critical period of transformation, he says. Shares are down 17.5% at 435 pence.
