Sparc Technologies (ASX:SPN) said the construction of Sparc Hydrogen's, a partnership between Sparc Technologies and Fortescue (ASX:FMG), patented photocatalytic water splitting reactor technology is progressing on schedule and budget, with commissioning expected to commence during July, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The partnership is engaging with several patent offices regarding Sparc Hydrogen's exclusively licensed reactor technology following a first patent grant in Morocco in January.

Sparc Technologies is also continuing its dual-track approach to commercializing the ecosparc graphene-based additive in widely used epoxy-based protective coatings through collaboration with major coatings companies on testing and field trials as well as conducting testing and field trials with large asset owners.

The firm's shares fell 3% in recent trading on Wednesday.
