LG Uplus to Commercialize RedCap 5G IoT with RAPA, Qualcomm, and Partners

LG Uplus (KRX:032640) is initiating terminal verification for commercializing RedCap (Reduced Capability) 5G IoT technology, in collaboration with the Radio Promotion Association (RAPA), Qualcomm Technologies, and Newzence.
RedCap enables cost-efficient, high-performance data transmission for industrial IoT by simplifying device functions, the South Korean mobile network operator said in a Wednesday release.
A telco-grade RedCap terminal verification system has been established at RAPA's IoT Technology Support Center in Incheon. Qualcomm is leading RedCap standardization and chipset testing with LG Uplus, while Newgens and Ericsson are building RedCap-specialized network environments.
