Credit Companies Could Beat Expectations Amid Origination Recovery -- Market Talk

1805 ET - BMO analysts Ryan Griffin and Jeffrey Silber are initiating coverage of FICO, TransUnion and Equifax as they believe the companies may bounce back after a recession in the lending-origination industry. Interest rates have risen and remained elevated in recent years, leading to a decline in credit and origination volumes, the analysts say. That is finally turning around, but FICO, TransUnion and Equifax are still staying conservative with their guidance. Griffin and Silber believe this means the companies are set up to beat earnings expectations. Equifax and TransUnion have also recently invested in modernizing, which dragged on capital, but the analysts now anticipate returns will start flowing. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
