Shares of Telstra Group (ASX:TLS) were marginally higher in early Thursday trade after the Federal Court of Australia ordered the company and other major internet service providers (ISP) late Wednesday to block user access to piracy websites under the Copyright Act.
The court granted a site-blocking injunction sought by Roadshow Films, requiring Telstra to restrict user access to a list of domains hosting or facilitating unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content or three years.
Under the ruling, ISPs should redirect users to a page explaining the reason for the block.
