Materials Gain as Trump Policies Seen Buoying Copper, Metals Prices - Materials Roundup

Producers of metals and other raw materials rose as President Trump's trade policies were set to favor U.S. metals processors and commodity prices.

Copper futures rose after Canadian Industry Minister Melanie Joly vowed the nation would fight the copper tariffs in international court.

Shares of MP Materials rose by as much as 50% after the Department of Defense agreed to invest billions of dollars in the rare-earth magnet maker as the Pentagon seeks to create a supply chain for the critical minerals, and cease relying on China.

In a missive to Brazil, Trump diverged from the form letter sent to many countries, opting instead to criticize Brazil's legal actions against both former President Jair Bolsonaro and U.S. tech companies.
