Pony.ai Inc. ("Pony.ai"), a global leader in autonomous mobility, has reached a significant milestone with the mass production and road testing of its seventh-generation Robotaxi models. After unveiling its Gen-7 autonomous driving system at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, the company began mass production for the Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) and Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC) models in June and July. This marks a critical transition from controlled environments to real-world traffic conditions as road testing commenced in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The Gen-7 system introduces three major advancements: the use of 100% automotive-grade components, a 70% reduction in bill-of-materials (BOM) costs for the autonomous driving kit (ADK) compared to the previous generation, and an enhanced platform-based design that allows rapid adaptation across multiple vehicle models. With these developments, Pony.ai is on track to expand its fleet to over 1,000 vehicles by the end of 2025, setting the stage for scalable growth and substantial commercial opportunities in the autonomous mobility sector.
