American West Metals (ASX:AW1) said its first deep diamond drill hole at the Storm copper project in Canada was completed and was interpreted to have intersected over 47 meters of visual sediment-hosted copper-style sulfide mineralization, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The laboratory assay results for the drill hole are expected in the next four to six weeks.

The initial data and preliminary results of the first phase of the airborne Mobile magnetotellurics survey completed over the Midway, Storm, and Tornado areas highlighted a series of large, conductive anomalies, with similar conductivity as that of the high-grade copper zones within the Cyclone deposit, according to the firm's managing director, Dave O'Neill.

The firm has completed 12 reverse circulation drill holes at the project to date, per the filing.

American West Metals' shares fell over 5% in recent trading on Thursday.
