Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria issued 1 billion euros ($1.17 billion) in five-year non-preferred senior debt on Tuesday, it said.

Demand for the bond climbed to 2.9 billion euros and closed at 2.6 billion euros, the bank said.

"This issuance is part of the wholesale funding plan for 2025 and aims to strengthen the bank's eligible instruments to meet [regulatory] requirements."

This was BBVA's third debt issuance of 2025. In January, the bank issued $1 billion in additional tier 1 $(AT1.AU)$ bonds, and in February, it issued 1 billion euros in Tier 2 debt, it said.
