Travel Agency Investors Cautiously Optimistic After Delta Report -- Market Talk

1403 ET - Online travel agencies got a little boost from Delta's 2Q results, but the investor reaction is muted due to mixed signals about travel. Expedia rises 5%, while Airbnb and Booking Holdings are up less than 1%. Benchmark analyst Daniel Kurnos says data points about travel show conflicting trends, with some showing a drop in overseas visits to the U.S. That's making it difficult to extrapolate Delta's report about stabilizing demand to travel agencies, even though the two industries have historically performed similarly. The one consistent narrative is that budget-conscious travelers are still pulling back, while wealthier consumers continue to spend, which Kurnos believes will bleed into travel agencies.
