谷歌周二宣布，未来两年将在美国最大电网区域内投资250亿美元，用于建设数据中心与人工智能(AI)基础设施，进一步扩大其在东岸与中西部的基础资源布局。谷歌表示，其中将有30亿美元用于现代化改造宾州两座水力发电厂，以支援数据中心与AI运算对电力需求日益升高的挑战。本次投资地区涵盖美国东岸至中西部、南部共13州，由PJM 电网联营系统(PJM Interconnection)负责供电，这也是全美规模最大的电网营运机构。谷歌表示，这波扩建与绿能部署旨在确保AI发展不会对区域电网造成更大压力，并推动长期的永续能源转型。
