报道指出，特朗普正考虑任命一位与其关系更紧密的央行行长。知情人士透露，哈塞特拥有其他人选不具备的优势，包括其现任白宫国家经济委员会负责人的职位，以及曾在特朗普首个总统任期内担任重要经济顾问的经历。
不过，白宫对美联储主席人选的遴选过程仍存在不确定性，哈塞特最终能否获得提名并非板上钉钉。
