Adjusted net income stood at $40.8 million, or $0.88 per diluted common share, an improvement from $39.4 million, or $0.85, in the previous quarter. The company's total revenue for the quarter was $76.9 million, down from $130.7 million in the preceding quarter. Noninterest income registered a loss of $34.6 million, contrasting with a gain of $23 million in the previous quarter, largely due to a $60.5 million GAAP loss from the sale of securities. President and CEO Christopher T. Holmes noted the company's solid operating results, highlighting growth in loans and customer deposits, a healthy net interest margin, and managed expense growth. The company repositioned its balance sheet by selling low-yielding securities, which is expected to enhance liquidity and margins in the future. The completion of the merger with Southern States Bancshares, Inc. on July 1st is anticipated to further strengthen the company's position for the second half of the year.
