HSBC Repurchases Over 4.4 Million Shares

HSBC (HKG:0005) bought back for cancellation over 4.4 million shares from Morgan Stanley, according to a Hong Kong bourse filing Thursday.

The bank bought 2,708,138 shares on UK avenues, which include the London Stock Exchange, Aquis Exchange, and Cboe Europe, at a volume-weighted average price of 9.25 pounds sterling each.

HSBC also repurchased a further 1,710,000 shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at a volume-weighted average price of HK$97.90 apiece.

The shares were repurchased as part of the company's buyback program.
