PepsiCo Will Relaunch Popular Brands to Be Simpler -- Market Talk

1016 ET - For PepsiCo, simpler is better. The snacks and soda maker aims to improve perception of some of its most popular brands by relaunching them without any artificial flavorings or colors, a move in line with the White House's "Make America Healthy Again" movement. For Lay's potato chips, that means going back to basics: "If you think about the simplest and most natural snack, it's a potato chip" executives say on a call with analysts. "It's a potato. It's oil. And it's a little bit of salt." Tostitos tortilla chips will undergo a similar, simpling relaunch. This trend is expanding to the company's sodas as well, where the company has been focused on growing its line of no-sugar colas. Shares rise 6.6%. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
