MDK Opto Electronics to Buy Two Optical Thin-Film Firms for $2.2 Million

Hangzhou MDK Opto Electronics (SHA:688079) plans to acquire two optical thin-film companies for $2.2 million, according to a Thursday disclosure on the Shanghai bourse.

The Chinese optoelectronics manufacturer is looking to buy Haishouli Optoelectronic Technology (Suzhou) from Kem Tech (KOSDAQ:106080) for almost $1.5 million and Innowave Vietnam from Innowave for $731,600.

Both companies operate in the optical thin-film business, with Haishouli focusing on optical coating and Innowave Vietnam handling printing and precision cutting.

MDK will take over the companies through its subsidiary MDK Korea.

MDK's shares rose over 1%, while Kem Tech's shares jumped less than 4% during midday trade.
