据美国Axios新闻网、英国广播公司（BBC），美国总统特朗普当地时间16日表示，可口可乐公司已同意在美国使用真正的蔗糖生产可乐。 特朗普16日在其社交平台发文称，他一直在与总部位于亚特兰大的可口可乐公司就使用蔗糖事宜进行沟通，这一做法已在墨西哥版可乐中采用。“我要感谢可口可乐的所有高层。这将是他们非常正确的一步——你们会看到的，这样更好！”他写道。 报道称，可口可乐目前在美国的产品中使用的是玉米糖浆。至于该公司是否计划修改原有配方或推出新产品，目前尚不明确。 该公司在给Axios新闻网的一份声明中表示，“我们感谢特朗普总统对我们标志性品牌可口可乐的热情。我们将很快分享更多有关可口可乐产品系列中创新产品的细节。” 值得一提的是，此前有多家外媒报道称，特朗普是健怡可乐的狂热爱好者，曾在白宫椭圆形办公室安装“可乐按钮”，以此提醒工作人员在他需要时为他送上冰镇的健怡可乐。 美国《华尔街日报》补充说，玉米加工协会主席约翰·博德周三表示，“用蔗糖取代高果糖玉米糖浆并没有什么意义。”他表示，这样做将导致美国食品制造业岗位流失，并损害农场收入。 一些食品科学家则表示，这两种甜味剂在风味上存在细微差别：高果糖玉米糖浆的甜味峰值来得更早，有助于增强水果和香料的风味，而蔗糖的甜味则更为宽泛，且持续时间更长。
