智通财经APP获悉，波音(BA.US)的工程师们在周二晚些时候证实，为全球卫星运营商 SES 所制造的第九颗和第十颗 O3b mPOWER 卫星已成功搭乘SpaceX的“猎鹰 9 号”火箭发射升空，并且现已从轨道上开始传输信号。
美国东部时间下午 5 点 12 分，这些卫星发射升空，大约两小时后完成部署。波音公司在一份声明中表示，这标志着SES高性能中地球轨道卫星星座建设进程中的又一重要里程碑。位于加利福尼亚州埃尔塞贡多的波音公司任务控制中心的工程师们在与运载火箭分离后立即启动了一系列安全检查程序。
这些新卫星配备了先进的氙气推进器，现在将开启一段为期 130 天的旅程，前往距离地球约 8000 公里的运行轨道。到达那里后，它们将加入 SES 公司的 O3b mPOWER 组网中的现有八颗卫星，该网络已于 2024 年 4 月开始提供商业服务。
波音公司在一份声明中表示，O3b mPOWER 卫星网络旨在从太空提供类似光纤的互联网连接服务，其可靠性与安全性均能满足商业和政府客户的需求。
