Energy stocks were advancing premarket Monday as the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) was up 0.2% recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was 0.4% lower and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 5.1%.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 0.1% lower at $67.28 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.3% to $68.93 per barrel, and natural gas futures were 4.5% lower at $3.40 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
BP (BP) said it has appointed Albert Manifold as chair of the board, effective Oct. 1. Shares of BP were up more than 1% pre-bell.
BKV (BKV) shares were 0.1% higher after the company announced an expanded partnership with a diversified midstream energy company to develop a new carbon capture and sequestration project at a natural gas processing plant in East Texas.
