** In April COF had reported growth in first-quarter profit with help from rising interest payments on its credit card debt
** In May COF closed its $35.3 billion acquisition of credit card co Discover. For Q1, its last report as an independent company, Discover had announced $4.25 bln rev, net of interest expense
** YTD shares of COF up ~22% vs ~9% gain for S&P 500 financial services index .SPSY
