Kanadevia (TYO:7004) formerly Hitachi Zosen, is partnering with Taiwan's Liang Lian Industries to build spherical tanks for liquefied CO2 storage used in carbon capture projects overseas, Nikkei reported Tuesday.
The firms plan to produce one to two 5,000-ton tanks annually by 2030, targeting demand from Japanese steelmakers, chemical firms and power companies storing CO2 in Malaysia and Vietnam, according to the report.
Kanadevia is reviving spherical tank production after a 30-year hiatus, aiming to ease supply constraints with its welding capacity and experience in LNG and ammonia tanks, the report said.
