Shares of lithium producers Liontown Resources (ASX:LTR) jumped 10%, while those of Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) rose over 5% after China's Zangge Mining said on Thursday it had halted lithium production at a unit in Qinghai province on orders from local officials, sending lithium prices higher, according to a same-day Reuters article.
Haixi prefecture officials in China on Wednesday sent a notice ordering an immediate halt to non-compliant mining.
